Abbotsford Police Investigating Serious Motorcycle Collision

Abbotsford, BC – June 28th, 2025 – This evening, at approximately 5:21 p.m., Patrol officers from the Abbotsford Police Department responded to a serious motor vehicle collision in the 4000 block of Sumas Mountain Road. The incident involved a black Ducati motorcycle, a black Mazda 3, and a green Toyota Sienna van.

Abbotsford, BC – June 27th, 2025 – Over the past few days, the Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit, with support from additional AbbyPD teams, worked diligently to advance this investigation and identify a suspect.

On June 26, 2025, 46-year-old Robert Matthews of Abbotsford was arrested and has been charged with Aggravated Assault & Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. Mr. Matthews is known to law enforcement as a repeat offender with a significant criminal record.

While enroute, additional callers reported that the man was entering residential yards, approaching occupied vehicles, and appeared to be in an agitated state.

AbbyPD Investigates Two Vehicle Serious Collision

Abbotsford, BC – April 20th, 2025 – Early this morning, at 7:28 a.m., Abbotsford Police Department frontline officers responded to a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Townline Road and Marshall Road.

Upon arrival, emergency service workers found a black Dodge Charger and a grey BMW sedan with significant damage. Both occupants of the Dodge Charger were airlifted to Vancouver area hospitals with serious, life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the BMW was transported to the hospital by ground ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

Today, investigators are releasing a composite sketch to the public of the male suspect involved in the sexual assault. An additional detail about the suspect indicates that he has a portrait tattoo on his right forearm.
