Abbotsford, BC – June 28th, 2025 – This evening, at approximately 5:21 p.m., Patrol officers from the Abbotsford Police Department responded to a serious motor vehicle collision in the 4000 block of Sumas Mountain Road. The incident involved a black Ducati motorcycle, a black Mazda 3, and a green Toyota Sienna van.

Abbotsford, BC – June 27th, 2025 – Over the past few days, the Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit, with support from additional AbbyPD teams, worked diligently to advance this investigation and identify a suspect.
On June 26, 2025, 46-year-old Robert Matthews of Abbotsford was arrested and has been charged with Aggravated Assault & Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. Mr. Matthews is known to law enforcement as a repeat offender with a significant criminal record.

Through an intelligence-led approach, AbbyPD has identified several repeat prolific property offenders believed to be actively involved in the recent surge in criminal activity within the area.
