In the middle of December, the AbbyPD’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) began to investigate a series of property offences that had occurred within the Sumas Prairie area.  Several residents were in the process of dealing with the impact that the flood had on them, their families, and their farms when an unknown person victimized them.

On December 15th, 2021, at 15:43 hours, a farmer living in the 2900 block of Tolmie Road located two suspicious males attempting to steal equipment from the property.  Upon being noticed by the farmer, the two males fled the area on foot leaving their vehicle behind.  The vehicle had been reported stolen.

On December 7th, 2021, between 3:10 am and 3:45 am, a white SUV occupied by three males attended the Eagle Mountain subdivision in east Abbotsford. The three suspects proceeded to target parked vehicles along the roadway.

On December 4th, 2021, at 1:55 pm, Abbotsford Police Patrol officers responded to the 32700 block of South Fraser Way after a motorist called police advising that an unknown male in another vehicle had pointed a handgun at them while driving.

On December 5th, 2021, at 2:42 am, Abbotsford Police Patrol Officers responded to the 5000 block of Riverside Street for reports of a vehicle fire.

On November 23rd, 2021 at 8:25 pm, AbbyPD patrol officers responded to an assist Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service call within the 33000 block of South Fraser Way.  Upon arrival, a portable washroom was located, fully engulfed in flames.  A short distance away, a 28-year-old man was discovered suffering from severe burns.

Suspicious Male Displays Knife

Today, November 24th, 2021 at 9:30 am, Abbotsford Police Department responded to Yale Secondary School for reports of a man with a knife. A student of Yale Secondary located the man within the school’s bathroom and immediately reported the discovery to school staff. At no time did the male suspect threaten any students or staff, but instead displayed the knife to show the student.
