Abbotsford, BC – October 2nd, 2026 – An investigation by the Abbotsford Police Department’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) has led to the arrest of a suspect and the approval of charges related to two residential break and enters that occurred at rural properties in Abbotsford last month.
On September 3rd, 2026, AbbyPD Patrol officers responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Bradner Road after receiving reports that an unknown suspect had forcibly entered an occupied home. The suspect stole several valuable items before fleeing the area.
A second break and enter was reported on September 14th, 2026, at a residence in the 27900 block of Montesina Avenue, approximately two kilometres from the first incident. In this incident, the suspect gained entry to the home and again stole a number of valuable items before leaving the scene.
Due to similarities between the incidents, investigators with AbbyPD’s CRU assumed conduct of both investigations. Through extensive investigative efforts, CRU investigators identified a suspect believed to be responsible for both offences.
On September 15th, 2026, members of the Crime Reduction Unit, assisted by AbbyPD’s Gang Crime Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 27200 block of Fraser Highway. One suspect was arrested without incident, and investigators recovered property that had been stolen during the break and enters.
As a result of the investigation, 48-year-old Bryan Barker has been charged with two counts of Break and Enter and one count of Disguise with Intent.
“Residential break and enters are particularly troubling because they violate a person’s sense of safety and security in their own home,” said Sergeant Hanninen of the AbbyPD Crime Reduction Unit. “Our investigators worked diligently to identify the individual responsible, gather the necessary evidence, and bring this investigation before the courts. This arrest and the recovery of stolen property demonstrate the effectiveness of targeted enforcement and collaborative investigative work in holding repeat offenders accountable and protecting our community.”
