Driver receives 21st conviction for impaired driving following AbbyPD Investigation

On August 15th, 2022, at 7:40 p.m., AbbyPD responded to a reported motorcycle accident in the 1800 block of Clearbrook Rd. The registered owner of the motorcycle was known to police for a history of prohibited and impaired driving offences.

Upon police arrival, a passenger of the motorcycle was being treated by first responders for serious injuries. The driver who attempted to flee the scene before police arrival was identified with the assistance of witnesses.

On December 22, 2023, at 5:07 p.m. AbbyPD patrol members responded to the area of Victoria Street and Old Yale Road for a reported collision of a motor vehicle involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a 77-year-old female with serious and life-threatening injuries. Medical aid was immediately provided, and the female was transported to the hospital where she remains in critical condition.

On December 22nd, 2023, at 2:35 a.m. AbbyPD patrol members responded to the 3100 block of Clearbrook Rd for a reported disturbance heard in a parking lot in the area.
Upon arrival at the scene, members located a 19-year-old male victim with serious and life-threatening injuries consistent with stab wounds. Responders immediately rendered medical aid, and the victim was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.

The Abbotsford Police Department has notified BC's Independent Investigations Office following a police-involved shooting in the 1700 block of Riverside Road, Abbotsford, last night on December 17th, 2023.

The involved male has since deceased, and no police officer was injured.

Today, December 11th, 2023, marks the one-year anniversary of the tragic event that claimed the life of 38-year-old Marc Ellis. On December 11th, 2022, Marc noticed a dog wandering on the roadway in the 3600 block of Lefeuvre Rd Abbotsford around midnight.

Pulling over, Marc exited his vehicle to corral the dog. Around the same time, two individuals left a nearby party, driving a red Dodge Ram pickup truck, which later collided with Marc, killing him.

On December 7th, 2023, at 3:48 p.m., AbbyPD patrol members were called to the intersection of Ware St and Farrant Cres Abbotsford BC for a reported collision involving one vehicle and a pedestrian.

Upon arrival at the scene, first responders provided medical aid to the 38-year-old female who had sustained critical and life-threatening injuries.

Today marks the start of British Columbia’s Police Winter CounterAttack Campaign. In BC, on average, 64 people die every year in crashes involving impaired drivers. Approximately 23 percent of all car crash fatalities are related to impaired driving. Last December, Abbotsford Police (AbbyPD) officers removed 75 impaired drivers from our Abbotsford roads.

In early March of 2023, the AbbyPD General Investigation Section (GIS) began to investigate a historic sexual assault allegation that was reported to the Abbotsford Police Department.

Through investigation and execution of search warrants, AbbyPD’s GIS, with the assistance of Patrol and the Forensic Identification Unit, gathered evidence and identified a 62-year-old male suspect with a pattern of offending that was concerning to the Abbotsford Police Department.
