AbbyPD tackles property crime by targeting prolific offenders

Between January 1 and April 30th, 2019, 509 crimes against persons (including assaults, homicides and robberies) were reported to the Abbotsford Police Department. During that same period, more than 2256 property-related crimes (break and enter, theft from vehicle, and theft of vehicle) were reported.

Road Safety Foundation and the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. Alexa’s Team is named for Alexa Middelaer, who was killed by an impaired driver in 2008 when she was just four years old.

Police Investigating a Stabbing on Tims St

Abbotsford Police are currently on scene investigating a stabbing in the 32100 block of Tims St. Emergency Services were called to the area at 5:10 pm for a report that a female had been stabbed. Abbotsford Police have arrested a 20 year old female and she remains in police custody. A 36 year old female has been transported to hospital and is in stable condition.

Limiting human contact with bears is very important. Minimizing the bears’ ready access to human food or garbage will help to ensure they do not become “food conditioned” to these sources. It is the bears’ quest for human food that may result in injury or damage to property.

Police investigating fatal crash on Fraser Highway

This morning at 2:20 am, Abbotsford Emergency Services responded to a collision in the 30000 block of Fraser Highway.

Upon arrival, emergency service workers located a 37-year-old woman who had been
struck by a pick up truck; and had succumbed to her injuries.

Police seeking witnesses to stabbing on Gladys Ave

At 6:45 pm yesterday evening, Abbotsford’s Emergency Services were called to the 33900 block of Gladys Avenue. Upon arrival, police located a man suffering from stab wounds to his chest. He was transported to hospital for medical treatment.

Another successful year for the AbbyPD Junior Police Academy

Congratulations to 23 grade 11 and 12 Abbotsford high school students, who spent a week of their spring break learning about what it’s like to be a police officer!
Throughout the week, students attending the AbbyPD Junior Police Academy studied the criminal code, were taught self-defense, reviewed traffic studies and crime scenes, and spent a day at the firearms range.

Police Warn of Increase of Distraction Thefts

The Abbotsford Police Department is investigating two distraction-style
jewellery thefts this week.

Both victims in Abbotsford were elderly and were walking in their neighborhoods with their grandchildren. In both instances, a vehicle stopped and a female passenger asked the victim for directions to the hospital.
