Incident: Have you seen 12-year old Brandon Smitton?

Brandon SMITTON, a 12-year-old Abbotsford youth, was reported missing to the
Abbotsford Police Department last night. Attempts to locate him overnight have been
unsuccessful.

Police seeking witnesses to stabbing on Gladys Ave

At 6:45 pm yesterday evening, Abbotsford’s Emergency Services were called to the 33900 block of Gladys Avenue. Upon arrival, police located a man suffering from stab wounds to his chest. He was transported to hospital for medical treatment.

Last week, an unoccupied home in central Abbotsford was broken into and several items were stolen. The owner of the home had recently passed away, and family members discovered the theft when checking on the home.

Another successful year for the AbbyPD Junior Police Academy

Congratulations to 23 grade 11 and 12 Abbotsford high school students, who spent a week of their spring break learning about what it’s like to be a police officer!
Throughout the week, students attending the AbbyPD Junior Police Academy studied the criminal code, were taught self-defense, reviewed traffic studies and crime scenes, and spent a day at the firearms range.

Police Warn of Increase of Distraction Thefts

The Abbotsford Police Department is investigating two distraction-style
jewellery thefts this week.

Both victims in Abbotsford were elderly and were walking in their neighborhoods with their grandchildren. In both instances, a vehicle stopped and a female passenger asked the victim for directions to the hospital.

This morning at 9:46 am, Abbotsford Emergency Services responded to a collision on
Bevan Ave at Primrose St involving a bicycle and a vehicle.

At this location, a cyclist and car collided in the intersection. The bicycle was travelling
northbound on Primrose St, and the car was travelling eastbound on Bevan Ave.

On January 21, 2019, Abbotsford Police investigated an uttering threats incident. Abbotsford Police charged Danielle RIGDON, a female in her early 40’s, with Pointing a Firearm, Assault with a Weapon, and Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm. Subsequent to the arrest, officers searched her residence and seized a loaded firearm and ammunition.

ABBOTSFORD, BC, 2019-03-07: On Wednesday, March 06, 2019, at 10:29 PM, Abbotsford Emergency Services responded to a structure fire located in the 2400 block of Countess St.

Upon arrival, Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service (AFRS) crews found two units of the three-story structure fully engulfed. A number of tenants had evacuated to exterior balconies and were unable to exit further.

One of the police officers struck and injured by a vehicle while training yesterday has been released from hospital.
