Tonight, Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021, at 7:47 pm, Abbotsford Emergency Services responded to a collision involving a pedestrian in the eastbound lanes of Highway 1 between Whatcom Road and #3 Road exit.
Upon arrival, emergency service workers located a pedestrian in the eastbound lanes who had been struck by a vehicle. Sadly, the pedestrian has succumbed to their injuries. AbbyPD is currently confirming the identity of the deceased and have no further details.
The driver involved in the collision remained on the scene and is cooperating with this investigation.
The Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team, police investigators and the B.C. Coroners Service continues its investigation. Highway 1 is currently closed eastbound between Whatcom Road and #3 Road exit. AbbyPD will provide an update on our social media once the highway reopens.
Investigators seek witnesses, CCTV footage and dashcam footage from those who may have been travelling on the highway just before this collision. If you can assist, please call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
