Light Up the Highway Abbotsford

Police agencies across the Fraser Valley are dedicated to keeping our roadways safe.  Its summertime, and once again, CounterAttack road checks will be popping up.  On June 28th and 29th, police officers will be “Lighting Up the Highway” as they conduct coordinated CounterAttack road checks and impaired driving enforcement. The travelling public can expect to see police on local Highway throughout the summer.

Impaired driving continues to be one of the leading causes of criminal death in Canada. On average, 68 people are killed every year in impaired driving crashes; 50percent of these crashes occur on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and 38 percent of them occur between the hours of 9 p.m. and 3 a.m.

Please - if your summer holidays or social activities involve intoxicants, plan ahead for a safe ride; consider using a designated driver, taxi, share a ride or take transit.  If no safe ride is available, plan to stay overnight.

Have a safe summer!

Please, if you see an impaired driver at any time, please call 911 to report.
