Human Remains Found on Rural Property on March 19 Have Been Identified

On March 19, 2020, Abbotsford Police attended a rural property in the 32000 block of King Road for a report of the discovery of human bones.

It has now been determined that the deceased is 38-year-old Marie Stuart.  Ms. Stuart had been the subject of an AbbyPD missing persons investigation that was initiated December 27, 2016.


Marie’s mother, Janet, states, “My family & I wish to express our sincere thanks to the Abbotsford Police Department, our friends, neighbours & community for their help, support, & prayers regarding Marie. Thank you.”

Foul play is not suspected however the cause of Ms. Stuart’s death is still under investigation.

The Abbotsford Police Department extends its condolences to Marie’s family and friends.

INITIAL RELEASE – December 28, 2016
Incident: Missing Person – Marie STUART

The Abbotsford Police Department is trying to locate missing 38-year-old Marie STUART. She was last seen in the area of the Seven Oaks Mall in the 32900 block of South Fraser Way on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 3:00 pm. STUART stands 5’2” tall with black hair and glasses (see photos). She was last observed wearing a yellow toque and black jacket. Marie STUART requires medication that she did not have with her and her family is very concerned about her.
