This afternoon, at approximately 12:50 pm, AbbyPD Patrol officers patrolling the Whatcom Road area observed a Honda Civic which license plates did not match the vehicle.  With the assistance of the Air 1 Helicopter, police were able to surveille the Honda until it parked in a driveway in 2900 block of Lefeuvre Road.  The driver exited the vehicle and walked away.

Patrol officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, at which time the passenger got into the driver seat and rammed the police car twice in an attempt to flee.  When the vehicle was not able to get out of the driveway, the passenger fled on foot.   He was taken into custody a short distance away with the assistance of a Lower Mainland Integrated Police Service Dog.

The initial driver was taken into police custody without incident.  He is a 36-year-old Abbotsford man facing new charges of prohibited driving and breach of court conditions.

The second driver who rammed the police car is a 37-year-old Abbotsford man facing new charges of Dangerous Driving, Flight from Police, Prohibited Driving, and Breach of his court conditions.

Both men remain in police custody.
