Abbotsford Police seek witnesses in Sexual Interference Investigation

On Monday, September 6, 2021 around 4pm, Abbotsford Patrol officers launched an investigation into an allegation of sexual interference involving a child that occurred inside a public washroom at Grant park, 31850 Madiera Place, Abbotsford, BC. The suspect fled the area on his bicycle but was later located and arrested for sexual interference.

The male has since been released on several conditions including, but not limited to:

- Not to commute with anyone under the age of 16;
- No go to any public parks, swimming areas, community centre or theatre where person under the age of 16 years are present or reasonably expected to be present; and
- Not to enter areas any schools, schoolgrounds, playgrounds or daycares where persons under the age of 16 years are present or expected to be present.

The suspect is described as a South Asian male in his 40’s to 50’s, medium build, wearing a white bucket hat and carrying a superstore cooler bag. The suspect was riding a bicycle.

As the victim is a youth, specific details of the investigation will not be released. If anyone believes they had contact with a male matching this description, they are encouraged to contact APD.

The Abbotsford Police Major Crime detectives continue to investigate this incident and ask that anyone who was in or around the area of Grant park on September 6th, 2021, between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm and may have information, to call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225 or text us at 222973 (abbypd).
