Working within an integrated professional team, the Recruitment and Workforce Advisor supports the recruitment and selection lifecycle for police and civilian roles, ensuring compliance with professional, legislative, and organizational standards. You use workforce data to support staffing, recruitment, and retention planning, while advancing succession planning through the identification of key roles, development of future talent, and support of employee growth and mobility.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Coordinate and deliver recruitment, assessment, workforce planning, and succession planning activities to ensure the organization attracts, selects, and retains a diverse, qualified, and operationally ready workforce.
- Coach and advise on best practices in law enforcement hiring, including structured interviews, bias-aware assessment methods, candidate evaluation, and equitable selection processes.
- Support and participate in police and civilian recruitment and selection processes, ensuring all practices align with law enforcement standards, organizational policies, and legislative requirements.
- Contribute to workforce planning by analyzing staffing levels, projected vacancies, recruitment pipelines, and future skill requirements.
- Prepare and maintain attrition and turnover reports, analyze trends, and identify contributing factors to inform retention strategies and leadership planning.
- Actively support succession planning activities, including coordinating talent reviews, identifying critical roles, tracking successor readiness, and maintaining succession plans.
- Collaborate with leaders to support career development and talent mobility.
The successful candidate will have post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related discipline, combined with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in talent acquisition, recruitment, or human resources, preferably within a policing, public-sector, or highly regulated environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You possess strong working knowledge of applicant tracking systems, workforce planning and reporting, BC employment and privacy legislation, and the BC Human Rights Code, with demonstrated experience applying equity, diversity, and inclusion principles to recruitment and talent management practices. Proficiency in HRIS, ATS, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Excel is required.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and can build effective working relationships with HR partners, leadership, and external stakeholders. You exercise sound judgment and decision-making, approaching challenges with a positive, solution-focused mindset, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
This is a permanent 0.80FTE position, working 28 hours per week. The pay rate ranges from $58.64 - $66.63 per hour.
