In 2011 the Abbotsford Police Department launched “Operation Acorn” in Abbotsford’s elementary schools, both public and independent. Elementary students in the district (K-5 and in some cases K-7) received a positive, engaging and entertaining presentation delivered by Abbotsford Police officers. The message delivered to students was that children, like acorns, possess huge potentials that can be realized through nurturing and positive environments.
Operation Acorn’s message differed in some respects with Operation Impact and Operation Impact II presentations because it customized the message for elementary school audiences. What remained consistent, however, was letting students know they have an opportunity to live an amazing life through the choices they make and that their community and their police department care about them.
