Deputy Chief Administration

The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) is seeking a leader with extensive experience to assume the role of Deputy Chief Constable for the City of Abbotsford, the largest municipality of the Fraser Valley Regional District. The APD’s mission is to keep Abbotsford safe and foster the community’s trust by maintaining our values of Integrity, Courage, Honour and Service.

The Deputy Chief Constable is accountable to the Chief Constable and is responsible for providing leadership to various parts of the organization. The Deputy will play a key role on the Senior Leadership Team and will command the Administration Division which includes Human Resources, Finance and Support Services, in addition to providing oversight for Professional Standards. As part of his/her responsibilities they will work closely with the Police Board, the City management team and various stakeholders to maintain the APD's role as a partner in the community.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated abilities and knowledge in modern law enforcement and crime prevention practices, and must bring at least 10 years of policing leadership experience that has been focused on working with stakeholders and a variety of community partners. Forging outstanding relationships internally and externally from the law enforcement agency for which they have served will be a hallmark of the selected candidate's success.

Of equal importance the applicant must possess the desire and ability to build strong rapport with the diverse Abbotsford community.
