Applicant Requirements
Applicant requirements for the Reserve Constable Program include:
- Age: Applicants must be a minimum age of 19 years upon commencement of training.
- Citizenship:Must be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident.
- Heath and Fitness: Must be physically fit to perform Reserve duties and demonstrate a fit and healthy lifestyle.
- Education: Minimum Grade 12 graduation by B.C. standards or equivalent. Post secondary education is recommended.
- First Aid: Must possess and maintain a current B.C. first aid certificate with CPR.
- Driveres License/Record: Applicants must possess the minimum of a valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license with a driving record indicative of responsible driving habits. (A Class 7 “N” Novice license may be considered in exceptional circumstances).
- Personal Character: Must be of mature, responsible and good character, and have no criminal record. Must pass background checks that assess integrity and personal suitability to the same standard as police officers.
